Free-Standing Wardrobes in East Sussex

The requirement

To form three sets of free-standing wardrobe to this residential home in Sussex. The client wanted each set to be of a similar style and finish, but to sit separate to the rooms themselves; so as to appear as a piece of furniture within the room, not as something overly sculped around the ceiling or that followed the existing room-lines.

The out come

A set of quirky and individual wardrobes which work both practically and as a feature to each room.

How we made it

An in-depth measured survey was undertaken, and a set of designs considered. CGI visualisations were formed for each wardrobe, illustrating the edging profiles and proposed material. Each wardrobe consisted of a similar carcassing, which was formed from solid timber panels, sanded, and glued together to produce a seamless pattern. Each door and drawer featured a chamfered profile to the surround. In areas recessed strip lighting was provided to the underside of each unit. Due to the weight of the solid timber, each wardrobe was formed in individual panels, and reconstructed on site.
